memily:

Queensland, the state I was born and raised in, known as one of the more “conventional” (read: backwards, country, redneck?) states in Australia, just passed a civil union bill that will allow heterosexual AND homosexual couples to enter into a civil union recognised by law. This is the highest recognition that can be given at state level as far as equal rights are concerned.

This is such a huge deal and I honestly didn’t expect the bill to pass. I am so proud of Queensland tonight.

If Queensland can do it, Australia can do it. Equal rights now. It’s time.

I’m born and raised in Queensland and I know a few homosexuals. It’s good to see that they will now be given the first...
